Warrington Borough Transport is proud to be a major part of the community it serves, in addition to providing a viable and efficient bus service. We aim to operate responsibly by making our service as environmentally friendly as possible, and this has seen improvements to both our buses and washing facilities. We have various services available to assist community groups and schools, and our staff and management are always happy to help, whatever your needs.
1. Investments in Environmental improvements have been made to help protect our environment
- Grants from the Energy Saving Trust have been used to fit particulate traps to buses, which reduce harmful exhaust emissions
- Ultra low sulphur diesel is used in buses, which contributes to a reduction in harmful exhaust emissions - a fact advertised on bus exteriors
- New vehicles are fitted with the latest environmentally friendly engines, offering the most up-to-date equipment for reducing emissions and minimising noise
- The company has invested in a water-recycling bus wash
- The company recycles all paper based products
2. Staff and management enjoy offering their time, expertise and resources when possible to help promote school and community group development. Examples include:
- Fund raising activities for St Rocco's Hospice
- Offering work experience for school students
- Inspectors visiting schools to talk to young people about bus transport and jobs
- Providing a free bus service for the annual Disability Awareness Day each July
- Allowing event advertising in bus windows at the discretion of the Managing Director
- Staff and company donation to the Tsunami Disaster Appeal
- Escorted tours around the depot for community groups and bus enthusiasts by prior arrangement
- Inviting people with disabilities to visit the depot to familiarise themselves with the buses to ease future travel.
